Chloe DeSteno is a Boston-based composer and singer whose work has been performed across the country and internationally. Two of her most recent premieres include “O Factura Dei,” an art song commissioned for soprano and organ performed in May, and “O Clarissima Mater”, a work for twelve-voice choir commissioned by Cappella Clausura and premiered at the end of March. She has worked with numerous ensembles and organizations including the Charlotte Chamber Choir, Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, Melodia Chamber Choir, the Worcester Chamber Music Society, the Crepusculum Choir, and the Berklee Flute Society, and the Berklee/Boston Conservatory National Association of Teaching Singing. This spring, she co-led a three-part concert series with Ariana Mascari at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, MA, with the goal of fostering a connection between the stories behind their plants and musical performance of both pre-existing and newly commissioned work.

In her early life, Chloe DeSteno studied at The Rivers School Conservatory where she studied with Dr. Stephen Halloran. There, she earned a Young Artist’s Diploma and received departmental awards in composition and voice as well as the conservatory-wide Director’s Award. Participating in the Annual Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young, she composed multiple works for invited ensembles every year during her studies. She received a commission to compose a viola duet for the chamber department, and two of her art songs were selected for an Emily Dickinson themed concert featuring works set to her poetry. In her senior year, she won the Young Composers Commission Award, for which she composed a duet for two pianos that was premiered the following spring. In 2025, she graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music, where she studied with Dr. Eleanor Aversa, earning her B.M. in composition and vocal performance. She began her master’s degree in composition at New England Conservatory in the fall, studying with Dr. Kati Agócs.

At Berklee, Chloe DeSteno was a recipient of the World Tour Scholarship and the Amy Beach and Jim Reyes Departmental Scholarship Awards. Within her department, she was chosen for an orchestral reading with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, masterclasses with eminent composers Matthew Aucoin, Elainie Lillios, and Ellen Reid, and the NYC Industry Trip. Selected as president of the department’s composition club in fall 2023, The Society of Composers, she worked with her board members to bring in notable guest speakers for weekly meetings including Alexander Liebermann, Chris Frederick Bloquert, Reiko Füting, and Claudia Anderson. Coordinating and hosting multiple concerts of student work each semester at venues on campus and around Boston, they proudly premiered over one hundred member compositions during her time there. In the fall, she was selected for an Entrepreneurial Musicianship Grant through New England Conservatory, and she recently attended the 2026 LunART Festival, where she worked with Composer-in-Residence Libby Larsen. Actively performing as a singer, she has performed at multiple venues and festivals around Boston, and she has also worked as a vocal coach, arranger, transcriber, accompanist, and music director.
